Good construction - bad cover

I started using a brand new J Stroke folding kayak carrier at the beginning of the summer. By early October, the fabric cover had bleached in the sun from jet black to a very light gray and had broken down so much that the fabric tore from just the exertion of pulling the velcro tab around to secure the tie-down strap. The rack, itself, is fine, but I'm far from happy about having to buy some UV resistant fabric and thread to make proper covers after only one season's use.

Great kayak carrier

I use these in combo with the loop straps to have a quick and easy way to load my kayak onto my roof. The padding wore out after a couple seasons, but I got rid of it and found that they work great without the padding. I think the padding is unnecessary and I'm ordering a new set of j hooks now and will likely just remove it right away.
